Data Acquisition Systems

When information is picked up by the sensors we install, the data must be fed into data acquisition systems for storage and analysis. We employ highly advanced computer-based data acquisition systems to undertake this work. Systems operate at sampling rates that match the demands of the individual job, from as little as one sample per day up to a 100,000 samples every second. Our Data Acquisition Systems allow for data to be stored and analysed in different formats, plus data can be filtered during acquisition – or thereafter, using digital processing. In addition, data analysis can be performed in real time. We use signal conditioning equipment to convert low-level signals to their high-level equivalent or to convert analogue information into digital data for onward transmission to a computer. Field equipment configurations are optimised in accordance with:

  • How many measurements are in the test programme
  • The distance between sensors and equipment
  • The sampling rates required
  • Power and environmental factors

Advanced Systems

At Sensor Solutions, we employ the very latest computer-based data acquisition systems to log and store information for detailed analysis. Such is the sophistication of the equipment we use that it can sample at rates as low as just once a day or up to a 100,000 samples per second. Information can be collected and offered up in a range of varying formats for further study and analysis – plus the information can be filtered whilst being collected; alternatively, the same process can be undertaken digitally after the data has been gathered. We use signal conditioning equipment to transform low-level signals into high-level signals. Alternatively, if required by a particular application, signal conditioning equipment can be employed to convert information in analogue format to digital data for onward transfer to a computer. The configurations of equipment in the field are optimised, based on the number of measurements carried out during the duration of the test programme; other factors can include the distance between sensors and equipment, the rates at which the sampling is required, the amount of power available plus environmental considerations.

Multiple Data Types

Working in the field, our can determine, collect and analyse factors such as: Strain and stress, Temperature and vibration, Pressure and soil pressure, Displacement and torque, Power and force, Voltage, current and resistance

Varying Rates

All sensors that we install in the field are connected to data acquisition systems which can collect and store varying amounts of data at extremely high sampling rates if necessary. To achieve this task successfully, we use ultra high-quality signal conditioning which incorporates sophisticated filtering and analysis capabilities. With these integrated into our data acquisition systems, quantity of measurements can start from as little as one, and can extend all the way up to 500+ channels utilising all types of different sensors.
