Analysing both residual, and in-situ stresses in components
Residual stresses or assembly stresses usually remain in components following manufacture, processing or assembly. These residual stresses can result in premature equipment or structure failures. There are some processes that can be applied to components to reduce residual stress, but often these are not practical, or can’t be specified. Therefore accurate measurement of these stresses is vital for assessment of fatigue life and load capacity.
Sensor Solutions uses the latest residual and in-situ stress measurement methods, including the blind hole drilling and destructive cutting methods. We have applied these techniques in a wide range of industries to help increase service life and to protect against component failures.
